Travel for tourism is freely permitted between regions in the yellow zone. The national certificate allows people to move freely even between territories in the red or orange band.

Getting married in Florence, in the municipality or at the museum

The latest news in Florence is the ex infirmary of the convent of Santa Maria Novella, which from September 2019 will be added to the list of “art locations” suggested by the Municipality for those who want to get married. Already today it is possible to say “yes” in some pearls of the historic center, such as inside Palazzo Vecchio (Sala di Lorenzo and Salone dei Cinquecento, as well as in the “classic” Red Room, the low cost and free choice for Florentines living in the city) or in the Bardini Museum (charity room).
To these are added, in the suburbs, the council room of Villa Vogel in the Isolotto district. The Municipality has dedicated a section of its institutional website to those who want to get married in Florence, with the list of places and their prices.

Location for weddings in Tuscany, by the sea and on a pier

Faith on your finger and feet on the sand. We start from a location reminiscent of the Seychelles, but it is closer and low cost: the white beaches of Vada, in the Livorno area. The Municipality of Rosignano recently said “yes” to the wedding by the sea.
The wedding overlooking the coast is possible in the suggestive bay of Castiglioncello. Wedding on the ferry on the Island of Elba, which for ceremonies on the beach offers various places between Marciana and Capoliveri, from the fine sand of Procchio to the golden beach of Lacona. Moving to Siena, Monteriggioni also offers spouses and guests the garden inside the walls, while in Val d’Orcia there is the Castle of Sarteano, a structure of fifteenth-century origin: wedding in an internal room or in the courtyard and the reception between the “Piazza d ‘arms’ outside and the Parco dei Lecci. Finally, on the Island of Elba, the Municipality of Marciana allows you to get married in the Pisan fortress.

Green wedding or in the mountains

Below Piazzale Michelangelo, the Rose Garden of Florence is perfect for a panoramic wedding: a unique view of the city, hundreds of ancient species of roses and even the sculptures of the artist Jean Michel Folon make this location an open-air museum.

“Green” newlyweds can also choose the Pisan coast where the San Rossore natural park offers open air ceremonies on the estate of the Presidency of the Republic (once a possession of the Savoy). In case of rain, weddings can be hosted inside the villa del Gombo.

For a wedding in history it is possible to get married, with a civil ceremony, in the small Chapel of San Michele Arcangelo in Semifonte, which is located in Barberino Val d’Elsa, in the Florentine Chianti. Erected at the end of the sixteenth century, it has a very particular shape because it reproduces the Brunelleschi’s dome of the Florence Cathedral in scale 1 to 8.
Still in the same orange blossom area, also in the seventeenth-century Palazzo Malaspina, in the center of the medieval village of San Donato in Poggio, in the municipality of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa. In Pisa, on the other hand, it is possible to marry with a civil ceremony in a deconsecrated church: the Municipality of Pisa opens the doors of the former Abbey of San Zeno, near Piazza Santa Caterina, an ancient monastery whose origins date back to the year 1000.

Christmas Markets Florence 2019 center

It starts with a classic, the Christmas market in Piazza Santa Croce, counted by international guides among those to visit absolutely in Florence, but the city calendar is enriched with appointments day after day, with themed initiatives and free admission: there is the American and charity bazaars, the benches of local artisans and extraordinary markets.
Officially it is called Heidelberger Weihnachtsmarkt, but for everyone it is simply the Christmas market in Piazza Santa Croce: also for this 2019 the typical houses arrive in the heart of Florence for a month of events. The best month to visit Pisa? June, without any doubt. Not only for the beauty of the Arno river in the early summer sunsets, not only for the climate, not only for the nearby sea and the chance to go diving after visiting the Romanesque churches but above all for the Pisan June. In fact, this is a month full of anniversaries, historical events for the city that have turned into traditional festivals, re-enactments, exhibitions, exhibitions that let you know Pisa beyond the Tower.

Luminara di San Ranieri

The Luminara di San Ranieri falls every year on June 16: thousands and thousands of candles (almost one hundred thousand) are fixed on windows and on the doors of the palaces of the Arno river, the banks of the many bridges that overlook the river; at sunset it is their light that illuminates the city, a truly incredible spectacle that culminates with fireworks. The Luminara di San Ranieri is the party that brings together more than 100,000 people for one night, ready to celebrate on the Arno river and in the many squares where concerts, shows and street food are set up. To admire the light show reflected on the water, a walk along the Arno is a must, but the advice is to spend the rest of the party in Piazza delle Vettovaglie, the real center of the Pisan nightlife or in Piazza dei Cavalieri, with the historic facade of the Palazzo della Normale or the Leaning Tower with thousands of burning candles.

The lights of the Luminara have just turned off and the city is still celebrating its patron saint with a historic regatta on the Arno waters in the afternoon of June 17th. The regatta takes place along a path of 1500 meters in vogue against the current, the boats used are inspired by the typical “Stefani frigates” of the Medici order of the Knights of Santo Stefano, the crew is made up of eight rowers, the helmsman and the assembler. It is the latter’s task to climb onto one of the 4 canapi that reach the top of a flagpole, placed at the finish line, and grab the blue palio, symbol of victory.

The Gioco del Ponte

At the time of the Maritime Republics, the Game of the Bridge was called the “game of mazzascudo”. Legends abound about its origins: a tradition of the carnival period, the evocation of an ancient battle; what is certain is that the last Saturday of June in Pisa is fought. The city is divided into Magistrates who take their name from the historic districts, on the Ponte di Mezzo the trolley is set up, a curious contraption that fighters must push on a sliding track towards Tramontana (the northern part of the city) or Mezzogiorno (the southern part ). The team that manages to push the opponent against their own side wins, often after long and grueling fights that can last even longer than an hour.
Although the flags of the Game flutter on the Bridge only one day a year the fans are rather turned on because the teams of fighters train throughout the year in their respective neighborhoods, the actual game is preceded by a historical procession in sixteenth-century clothes that parades through the Arno river.

Viareggio has always been one of the most famous seaside resorts of Tuscany, famous
since the early 1900s as a place of rest and vacation in an exclusive and a lot
refined. But not only!
Viareggio is famous all over the world for its Carnival which is among the most beautiful and
spectacular not only of all Italy, but of the whole world.
The Carnival Parade of Viareggio has existed for about 146 years, in fact the first Carnival Parade was held in the
1973 and apart from the war years it has been held uninterrupted until today, with many innovations that over the years have made this unique event in the its kind.

The floats are real works of art: they are made of working carts pulled by a tractor and on the floats
the very famous allegorical masks are placed that always have a satirical and very often political theme

In fact, to make a float a whole year of work takes a very long time, because they are built
completely handmade by real masters of papier mache.
The papier-mâché, to create the majestic and very light floats, was introduced in 1925 and from there it became a
true emblem of Viareggio and are the largest and most bustling in the world

At the same time as the carnival period are held in the five city districts (Q.re Campo D’Aviazione, Torre
